Happy Holiday Shows in Americana Boston

It's been busy - what with the multiple celebrations and hootnannies that go along with all the hoopla. Hardly have time to stop and look at all the great shows and bands hucking their music out to the world in our cold, snowy town here. A couple good things coming up in the new year.

First the 3rd annual "New England Americana Festival" is coming up - no line up announced yet, but this series is a continuation of the Alt Country Extravaganza
that Mike MacDonald and the Widowmakers put on for the last two years. Mike Mac
was a pivotal member of the alt country community in Boston, and after his stint in the service, he has relo'd to the Austin Texas area, leaving a gaping hole in the
Alt country community in Boston. Mike's dedication to the music is second to none and he is missed 'round these parts. Let's hope that the 3rd annual lives up to the great shows that Mike was responsible for in the past - keep tuned - more to come on this

RIP Ray Neades

Ray Neades passed away earlier this week. A truly great person who was deeply involved with the Boston Music Scene, Ray played with Angry Johnny and the Killbillies among other bands. Ray was a great person, as well as a talented guitarist and a great all around human being. Anyone who knew Ray was touched by him, in a good way. This writer mourns the loss of a great friend.

The Rationales - a great show coming up !

A big night at the Lizard Lounge -

Legendary Boston rockers SCARCE headline a bill that includes THE FUTURE EVERYBODY, JON GOREY and THE RATIONALES.

It promises to be a fun night as all of the bands have played together many times - and some even share members. For the Rationales it's a special night as we'll be joined by our friend BRENDAN BOOGIE filling in on bass and vocals - watch for cross-pollination and collaborations gallore!

TheyWillHateUs recieves Club Passim Iguana Music Fund Award

TheyWillHateUs - an odd name for a band that you really won't hate... Caught in action at the Midway Cafe last weekend - TheyWillHateUs combine the old country music, revivalist leanings and a good dose of foot stomping. They opened the evening of the monthly "Dark Holla Stomp" - hosted by the Resurrectionists over at the Midway.

TheywillHateUs recently recieved a grant from Club Passim - The Iguana Music Fund award to help them develop their unique brand of music. Some of their songs date from the 1830's and are brought to life with abandon - other's such as their rendition of Brother Claude ely'ds "Aint No Grave" - showcase the fever that made the old tent revivalist preachers such a sensation. Hear them at their website www.theywillhateus.com

A great band - although their video portion wasn't included at the midway, They have several show booked around the New England area
